Afflicted has arrived! Well, the proof copy has anyway, as pictured here with my goth self. It is very cute and I'm really pleased with the quality of the colours on the cover. Sometimes when you see it printed it isn't as pretty as on the computer screen. I am also very happy with lulu because I ordered it on Friday, it shipped on Saturday and it arrived today. I call that SPEEDY. I have to read through it, make sure there aren't any mistakes and approve it for distribution and then it will be on sale BABY! Get your credit cards ready, people, Afflicted will soon be unleashed upon the world.

international day of books update

I designed the covers for the two entries in this year's International Day of Books today. I am really pleased with them and I can't wait to see the two books in print form. I don't think we are going to have them in time for the official launch date of the 27th, but they should be available for sale on line shortly after that date and in bookshops a little while after that. I can't wait!!! I had originally planned to do detailed paintings depicting scenes and characters from the books, but after I did up sketches I realised that my book looked like a trashy romance (which it isn't) and highly illustrated covers aren't in vogue at the moment. Also, time did dictate I go with a more simple design. I really like them though, I hope other people will and be tempted to buy the books after seeing them.

International Day of Books 27th July 2008
This year I want to publish a book - by any means possible. Because I consider myself to be an unselfish person (or perhaps because I don't want to go about this venture on my own) I want to take as many not yet famous unpublished writers with me as possible. Inspired by World Book Day, I plan on going about this process by publishing a novella of roughly 15,000 words and using Lulu to print it up. But Inkpot, I hear you say, what has this got to do with me? I'll tell you what...If you are a writer and and want to get into print this year, this is the opportunity you have been waiting for. It is not going to be easy, it is not going to make you rich and famous, it will be hard work but it will be fun and it will get your work out to more people.
Ok, so if you are now interested, this is what you have to do...
1. Contact me and let me know
2. Write a novella of 15,000 words in any genre
3. Publicise the event in your country
4. Organise a book launch for July 27th and push all the International Day of Books books to as many people, venues and bookshops off and online as possible.
What I will do is give you as much help as possible with your book - proof reading, formatting, art work etc. and I will have the book launch in Ireland on the 27th July and push your book with mine throughout Ireland.
Interested? You should be! If not, please pass on the word and send people in my direction. I want to get as many authors from as many countries as possible involved in this.
Thanks.
